Dual Swivel Head Dual Wheel AGV Castors solve the conflicting problem that an AGV castor often needs both a small offset and a large offset. A castor's manoeuvrability is greatly affected by its offset. A large offset requires less effort to turn but a also needs a bigger turning circle.For an Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV...) this means more vehicle swing when it changes direction. This is a problem if it means the AGV deviates off its designated path.
Therefore, in most AGV applications, a smaller offset is desirable. The problem with a small offset is that it needs more effort to change direction. This can overload the drive motors in the AGV and result in downtime and potentially AGV failure.
The Dual Swivel Head Dual Wheel AGV Castors (GAAD Series) provides a solution to both problems. The patented dual swivel design allows for a variable offset which is automatically optimised by aligning the two rotational axes. This balances the need for a smaller offset and easier manoeuvrability. Furthermore, with dual wheels (Twin wheel) each wheel can rotate in different directions. The Top Plate is 112mm x 112mm and has 4 bolt holes that are spaced 92mm x 92mm, each with a 9mm hole diameter,
This castor frame has two wheels with a Polyurethane tyre (Shore A 95) on an Aluminium centre each containing ball bearings, The polyurethane wheel has excellent elasticity the minimises slipping that can happen when an AGV starts or stops. In addition, the elasticity also absorbs small shocks arising from small imperfections in the floor. The wheel itself is non marking and will not damage the floor. -
